In the long run we have a catalog of topics we hope to pursue along the line from Adelaide through Central Australia north to Darwin, but in this particular junket, we have a particular interest in the German-speaking (Prussian) settlers of the Barossa and the Hermannsburg Mission to the Arrernte they established in the central desert, at Ntaria. Among the institutions we will visit in Adelaide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slsa.sa.gov.au\/home\">State Library of South Australia<\/a> &#8211; a fabulous edifice, with the authoritative collection of titles in the history of South Australia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.samuseum.sa.gov.au\/\">South Australian Museum<\/a>, with its famed assemblage of aboriginal material culture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/migration.history.sa.gov.au\/\">Migration Museum<\/a>, for its treatment of immigrant cultures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lutheranarchives.lca.org.au\/\">Lutheran Archives<\/a>, which has extensive holdings on the mission<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.sa.gov.au\/\">State Records of South Australia<\/a>, pertinent holdings not fully determined, but there are items of interest, such as the earliest claims to waste lands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of which is exciting, but first we have to get there, and check into the <a href=\"https:\/\/theplayford.com.au\/\">Playford Hotel Adelaide<\/a>.
